Tech-Ed 07, It’s a Wrap

Tech-Ed Australia 2007 is all over for another year. Apart from being a great opportunity to catch-up with folks, it was also an excellent opportunity to put the tools down and take a good look at things. So stay tuned over the next few weeks as we start to implement some of the ideas we came up with over a beer in the wee hours of the morning.

This year’s event has been a great event for many reasons, the first and foremost being that WARDY IT Solutions was one of sponsors along with Cybner Computer Solutions, Charles Sturt University and IT Masters who organised the Inaugural Influencers Party. Special thanks must go to our Chief Solutions Architect Jeff Wharton, as without all of his tireless effort this event would not have been possible. We have already started to plan a bigger and better event for the second Influencers Party at Tech-Ed in Sydney next year and we look forward to seeing you there.

This year was my first Tech-Ed where I presented a session and I am extremely proud that my SQL Server upgrade presentation was in the top 10 rated sessions on Wednesday the 8th of August. So hopefully my session at the PASS Summit in Denver next month rates equally well.

SQL Server 2008 July CTP

The second publicly available Community Technology Preview (CTP) for SQL Server 2008 is now available for download from the Microsoft connect site. Included in this CTP is something that many people have wanted for a long time and that is the inclusion of a separate date and a separate time data type, so no more casting the datetime datatype any longer.

For more details regarding the July CTP including the download details refer to here.
