Hi all,

I  have a very strange error at an offsite client location. We have built them a custom application, that uses the report viewer control to allow access to SSRS reports within the application. This application has been installed and running on their site for over 2 years. All of a sudden, they are getting a “Root element is missing” error when running a report with a certain set of parameters. This is a date based report (start date, end date), and when the report is run for a 14 month period, this error occurs.

The strangest thing about all of this, is it ONLY happens in the application. The report runs fine through the web interface, and if I remote in, it works for me in both the web and the app. The only difference here, is I log in and run directly on the server, while they are running from client machines.

The server is SQL 2005. They have recently switched the anti virus over to AVG, and the server does NOT have this at all.

Any ideas?
