Getting Asynchronous with SQL Server and Service Broker

Service Broker has been inside SQL Server since the 2005 release, however it seems to be a vastly under-utilised component – despite its usefulness.

In this session we will look at how a simple Service Broker implementation can be put together and then scaled.

We will also look at how this technology can aid with increased responsiveness of our applications and various other uses such as monitoring and data warehouse scenarios.

About the Presenter

Martin Catherall has over 15 years of experience working with data- driven applications built on SQL Server and the Microsoft Data Platform technology.

Martin founded the Christchurch SQL Server User Group and ran several SQL Saturdays in that city before relocating to Melbourne in early 2016.
He currently volunteers as a Regional Mentor for PASS and maintains strong involvement in the Australian and New Zealand Data Platform communities.

Martin’s current interests are around database testing and DevOps for the database.
