August 2020 Roundup: In a Day workshops, Power BI Essentials, and SQL Server Auditing

August Roundup

It was just over twelve months ago that WARDY IT Solutions was acquired by MOQ. Over the past 12 months a lot has changed in the world – most people would have thought you were out of your tree if you had predicted that borders would be closed and air travel almost non-existent due to a global pandemic.  However one thing that hasn’t changed is the ongoing legendary depth of skills and customer acumen we are known for, as demonstrated in a recent case study for Isentia.

A lot of people have asked what it’s like to have been acquired, to which I have often joked – “The only thing that has changed is I have a boss other than my wife for the first time in a long time”. In other words, not much has changed – which is a good thing, as one of the reasons that the acquisition has been so successful is that MOQdigital and WARDY IT Solutions have a common culture built upon a deep technical pedigree and a shared customer-centric philosophy.

Despite the impact of COVID-19 slowing down our integration, our organisations have naturally integrated due to these common values. Over the last 12 months, I have had that same proud feeling I will get as a father seeing my daughters achieve something, as I watch the organisational leaders continue to grow the business through these current tumultuous times. What excites me as I look forward to the next twelve months, is the opportunity we have as MOQdigital, ahead of us. My role as a leader in MOQdigital has now grown to be the General Manager of Digital Services, which not only includes our Data & AI pillar but also the Business Applications and Application Solutions pillars. I recently shared what I think the future of Digital Services looks like as we continue to rapidly accelerate digital transformation.

They say time flies when you are having fun – well a recent study has identified that the brain’s measure of time is faster due to a number of different reactions associated with fun. Here’s to many more fun times ahead!

SQL Server on Linux

Microsoft SQL Server enables organisations with industry-leading data capabilities with key benefits for performance, security and total cost of ownership. With SQL Server on Linux, you can run the relational database engine on an enterprise Linux ecosystem.

If you are interested in running SQL Server on Linux applications, read our blog post.

SQL Server Auditing

The SQL Server Auditing feature is often used to define an audit of the SQL Server settings and database access on your SQL Servers. With more people working from home at present and as companies move more resources and processes into the cloud, auditing is becoming crucial in a business environment.

With SQL Server Auditing, a database audit can track down potential holes in your SQL Server and infrastructure security as well as unauthorised changes of data.

If you want to know what you should audit in your SQL Server system, read our blog post.

Is it time to move to As-a-Service IT?

Over the last few months, MOQdigital have explored Managed Services concerns, such as losing a key technical resource, the shift to managing remote offices and delivering new services.

Considering all these challenges, managing one’s own IT support and services is never easy. It might be time to consider the IT as a service model.

Read what MOQdigital have to say about the IT as a Service model:

Azure Databse Optimisation Service

Many organisations notice that moving to the cloud can become expensive, and want to reduce costs.

Traditional IT investments are a capital expense you don’t think about for a couple of years. In this mindset, companies will deploy for the future, and will buy more RAM or CPU for their organisation to grow into. However, this way of thinking is not suitable for the cloud. Often, organisations find their bills increasing every month.

WARDY IT Solutions is offering the Azure Database Optimisation Service. We understand IT budgets are finite, so we will look at how you can do more with less.

Data Modernisation-in-a-Day

Designed by Microsoft, delivered by WARDY IT Solutions ‘Data Modernisation in a Day’ is a 1-day session covering everything from whiteboarding migration strategies to hands-on experiences with data migration tools.
