Amit Arora – Windows and SQL Server memory concepts

Amit Arora is an SQL Server Consultant with WARDY IT Solutions. Amit has over 10 years of experience working with SQL Server including working as a Technical Advisor and DBA for Microsoft. Amit has recently been working on SQL Server solutions with Microsoft Azure and HDInsight as well as other big data technologies.

SQL Server as an application leverages Memory resources from the base operating system, therefore, it’s important for DBA’s to understand both, Windows and SQL memory fundamentals. This session will aim to deep dive into some Windows and SQL Server memory management concepts along with a few important tips for some known SQL Server issues around memory.

Some of the concepts covered in the session will be VAS (Virtual Address Space), Virtual Address Translation, Buffer Pool, MTL, Memory Objects, Memory nodes etc.

This talk will aim to draw an image of memory reservation and allocation operations for SQL Server in particular.
