May 2020 Roundup: Azure Synapse migration, questions to ask your MSP, and Power BI licensing options

WARDY May roundup

In a recent investor call, Satya Nadella the CEO of Microsoft, made the comment “we’ve seen two years’ worth of digital transformation in two months”, in reflection of the rapid adoption of technology as a result of the pandemic. At its heart, digital transformation is the adoption of technology to solve business problems. This rapid adoption of new technology is being embraced by organisations of all sizes, even my local suburban deli has pivoted their business to start providing online services and has added additional services lines that will be in place long after COVID-19.

Moments of crisis have historically served as a powerful impetus for innovation as extreme adversity fosters innovation and the building of great companies. Eighteen of the thirty organisations currently on the Dow Jones Industrial Index were founded during economic downturns.

As part of this innovation, we have seen a rapid adoption of Power BI to help enable a data-driven culture, so organisations can make confident business decisions by using up-to-the-minute analytics. WARDY IT Solutions has developed our Power BI QuickStart service to rapidly introduce all the features and benefits of Power BI in a short, low cost, agile engagement.

Regular backup testing is a crucial part of any Backup and Restore strategy. If your backups haven’t been tested, you’re effectively not backing up at all. Murphy’s law will guarantee that the backup you need to restore will be unavailable in some form or another.

WARDY IT Solutions is here to help you better understand your current Backup and Restore process, assist you in finding out whether it is working as intended and potentially provide a better overall solution to better match your changing business needs.

Introducing Power BI deployment pipelines

The use of analytics within the organization is a daily practice for many. Stakeholders across organizations rely on the information and insights to take decisions and actions, making analytics mission-critical to the success of the organization.

As users consume more, they also require more of their analytics – more data in a single report, smarter and easier ways to answer questions, and obviously data must always be fresh, available and reliable. To keep up with the ongoing requirements, BI teams are required to deliver updates faster while maintaining excellent quality so end-users will not lose trust in the data.

Microsoft announces the public preview release of Power BI Deployment pipelines, a new and improved way for BI teams to manage content lifecycle within Power BI Premium.
